when i grow up

i wanna be like my dad.

to start that process, when i was in the womb i asked God to make me look like him. step one accomplished.

among the many talents my father has, music is the most important. the guy can drum like nobody's business. (anyone out there need a drummer? i'm his agent..) but he also is a mean percussionist. i don't mean that he's a jerk, he's just ridiculously good. lots of gadgets that make sweet noises. since i'm not as good at drawing as he is, and i can't see myself remembering to use the bass drum along with everything else in the drum set, i decided to follow the percussive path instead.

in fact, my father has given me two pieces to start my own little kit. i'm also borrowing a cabasa from him to practice with. i'm not great yet, still learning how to get creative and switch things up, but i'm practicing. tonight he gave me my second shaker, and i love it. shakers are great because i can sing while playing them.

maybe someday i'll have a band and my dad and i can both play.

that isn't to say i don't want to be like my mom, but since i got the shaker my dad was fresh in my mind.....
